Our Story

Principal's Message
Dr. Omaira Lee is honored to serve as principal of Roosevelt Elementary School where all scholars are Rough Riders.

As a Community School, we rely on the social worker, school nurse, community liaison, health aide, instructional assistants, and other community resources to ensure that all the needs of our students and families are met. Additionally, we want to ensure that we are supporting you. Being there for you means having a supportive administrative team that will support you. This also means that we as a staff are here for our Rough Rider Community and willing to do whatever it takes to help our scholars be successful

Dr. Lee’s goal for the 2023-2024 school year is twofold; One - serve the needs of students and families inclusive of keeping scholars safe and providing interventions with first best instruction. As a Community School, we rely on the social worker, school nurse, community liaison, health aide, instructional assistants, and other community resources to ensure that all the needs of our students and families are met. Additionally, we want to ensure that we are supporting you. Being there for you means having a supportive administrative team that will support you. This also means that we as a staff are here for our Rough Rider Community and willing to do whatever it takes to help our scholars be successful. Additionally, Dr. Lee would like to establish a pathway for Roosevelt to become an AVID school not a school with AVID where scholars, staff, and parents have access to create continuous improvement and provide equitable learning opportunities so all scholars have choices when they grow up.

This is Dr. Lee’s 18th year in administration and 29th year in education, having served as an elementary classroom teacher, resource teacher/reading specialist, Reading First literacy coach, assistant principal, principal, and Coordinator at Riverside County Office of Education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Masters of Science in Reading Education from California State University of Fullerton, and her Doctorate in K-12 Leadership from the University of Southern California. Continuing her love of learning, she attends AVID training, ACSA Academies, and other professional workshops.

Dr. Lee is committed to supporting scholars, teachers, and the community as we look forward to another ROUGH RIDER school year. Finally, when not working Dr. Lee enjoys hanging out with her mother and two older daughters Rachel and Jasmine.

Roosevelt Elementary School serves a community of about 575 preschool through fourth-grade students. Our mascot is a Roughrider. Our school colors are red, white, and blue. We believe that all students have the full potential to reach any goal that they set out to accomplish.  The education that they receive at our school will support students to be caring, confident, and creative children. Go, ROUGHRIDERS!

At Roosevelt, we emphasize a strong character and encourage students to do what’s right—no matter the situation. We integrate Character Counts lessons into our daily instruction and teach the six pillars of good character on a regular basis.  We promote the 3 R's:  Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships.  Students understand that they are to Respect themselves and others.  In addition, our students take Responsibility for their actions and learn from them.  Finally, students are taught that they benefit from building positive Relationships with one another.  This will help students become productive citizens who will have a positive effect on our society.
